About This Kenya and Zanzibar Honeymoon
This Kenya and Zanzibar honeymoon gives you the two halves of East Africa in one trip. The first week is a private safari: elephants beneath Kilimanjaro in Amboseli, a boat on Lake Naivasha, rhino at Lake Nakuru and two nights in a tented camp in the Masai Mara.
The second week slows right down. A short flight takes you to Zanzibar, where the plan is deliberately light: a morning in Stone Town and on Prison Island with its giant tortoises, a day at sea on a traditional dhow with snorkelling and a sandbank lunch, then two days with nothing on the schedule at all.
Because it is your honeymoon, the vehicle and guide are yours alone for the whole safari, and we ask for rooms with a view wherever the lodge allows. The flights to and from Zanzibar, the excursions and all park fees are included. Tell us your dates and we will suggest the best order for the season.

The Full Itinerary
You are met at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transferred to your hotel for a quiet first night after the flight.

You drive south to Amboseli, about four to five hours, arriving at your lodge for lunch.
After a rest by the pool, an evening game drive takes you out among the elephant herds as Kilimanjaro appears above the cloud.

A full day in the park with a picnic lunch. Early morning gives the clearest view of the mountain.
You climb Observation Hill for the view over the swamps, where families of elephant walk out of the woodland to drink.

You drive back through Nairobi and down into the Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha, about six hours.

A guided walk through the lanes of Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its carved doors, spice market and seafront.

THE ROUTE
Where This Safari Takes You
Nairobi → Amboseli → Lake Naivasha → Lake Nakuru → Masai Mara → Nairobi → flight to Zanzibar → flight back to Nairobi. Roughly 1,000 km of driving on the safari, plus two short flights.
How To Get There
This honeymoon starts and ends in Nairobi. Fly into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) and book your flight home from Nairobi in the afternoon or evening of day 13, after the morning flight from Zanzibar.
On safari you travel in a private 4×4 Land Cruiser with a pop up roof, roughly 1,000 km in all. The flights from Nairobi to Zanzibar and back, about one hour and twenty minutes each way, are included.
You need a Kenya eTA, a Tanzania e-visa for Zanzibar and a yellow fever certificate, which Zanzibar asks for when you arrive from Kenya. Zanzibar also requires its own inbound travel insurance, $44 per adult, best bought online before you travel. Your own travel insurance does not replace it.
