Safari Overview
This is a 7 Days safari to Aberdares, Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Samburu National Reserve and Meru National Park Safari. Aberdare is a 3 hours’ drive from Nairobi. Aberdares National Park offers a mountainous scenery with renowned waterfalls like Karuru water falls, Gura waterfalls and Magura water falls. The park is home to rare wildlife species including–Black rhino, Black Leopard and the Eastern Bongo (a huge forest Antelope). Buffalos, leopard, lion, elephants, giraffes, blue and colobus monkey, warthog, giant forest hog among many others are also found in the park. The dragon teeth which are a volcanic, rock formation assuming the rugged look of a set of teeth sitting on a jaw is also found in the park. Ol Pejeta Conservancy lies on the Equator and boasts of wonderful views of Mt Kenya. The Conservancy houses Kenya’s largest population of Black Rhino, large numbers of elephant, cheetah, lion, leopard, African wild dog and plentiful plains game. The conservancy also has a number of the rare Northern species such as Grevys Zebra, Jackson’s Hartebeest and Beisa Oryx. Ol Pejeta Conservancy also permits night game drives which focus on species not seen during day game drives. Samburu National Reserve is in the Northern part of Kenya on the banks of Ewaso Nyiro river. Samburu National Reserve is home to rare animal species such as the Grevy Zebra, Gerenuk, Beisa Oryx Reticulated Giraffe, and Somali Ostrich. It is also home to Elephants, Lion, Leopard and Cheetah. Birds of over 450 species are also common in the reserve. Meru National Park is less visited hence has an unspoilt natural beauty. The park is home to wildlife species including Grevy’s zebra, lion, cheetah, elephant, leopard, hartebeest, hippo, buffalo and the reticulated giraffe among others. Meru also hosts a rhino sanctuary which is home to the endangered black and white rhino species. Birds of over 400 species have been recorded including bee-eaters, Peter’s Fin foot, Pel’s fishing owl, kingfishers, rollers, starlings and weavers. In Aberdares you will stay at The Ark Lodge/Treetops Lodge, in Ol Pejeta at Sweetwaters Serena Camp, Samburu at Samburu Sopa Lodge/Sarova Shaba Game Lodge/Ashnil Samburu Camp/Samburu Riverside Camp/Elephant Bedroom Camp and in Meru at Ikweta Safari Camp.
You will be picked up from your Nairobi Hotel/Airport and Depart for your Aberdares safari at 7.30 am. This is quite a beautiful journey passing through the Kenyan Highlands, past pineapple and coffee plantations. You arrive at your lodge just in time for lunch. In the afternoon you proceed to the park for a game drive in search of the Black Leopard, Black rhino and the Eastern Bongo (a huge forest Antelope), Elephants, buffalos, giraffes, blue and colobus monkey, leopard, lion, warthog. Enjoy the cooler mountainous scenery region. Lunch, dinner and overnight at The Ark Lodge/Treetops Lodge.
After morning breakfast, we depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy. You arrive at the camp in the afternoon in time for lunch. Late in the afternoon you visit the Ol Pejeta Conservancy for an afternoon game drive. You are likely to see chimpanzees and other wild animals in the parts of the conservancy. In the evening drive back to your camp for dinner and overnight stay. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay at Sweetwaters Serena Camp.
After early morning breakfast, we depart our camp for Samburu. You will have a brief stopover enroute to view Mount Kenya with its Snow-capped peaks. You arrive at the lodge just in time for lunch. An afternoon game drive is planned in the reserve. You are likely to spot the Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk, Grevy Zebra, Beisa Oryx and Somali Ostrich, Elephants, Lion, Leopard and Cheetah. In the evening drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Lunch and dinner at your Camp/lodge.
You will wake up to an early morning game drive before returning to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast return to the reserve for a full day game drive with packed lunch boxes. You will possibly sight unique wildlife species like Oryx, Gerenuk, Gravy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich and other wild animals’ peculiar to this semi-arid region. The game drives will be along Ewaso Nyiro river where most of the wild animals are found. Bird lovers are not left out as the reserve boasts of different species of birds. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight at Camp/Lodge.
After morning breakfast, we depart for Meru National Park. At Embu town you will have a brief stopover. You arrive at your camp late in the afternoon in time for lunch. You head to Meru National Park in the evening for a game drive. The park hosts large pride of lions, herds of buffalo, hippos and crocodiles that live in the rivers. Meru National Park is known for its natural beauty and fauna. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Ikweta Safari Camp.
Wake up to an early morning game drive before returning to your camp for breakfast. After breakfast depart the camp for even greater adventure. During the game drive you will possibly spot the elephants, hippos, lions, leopards and cheetahs, largest herds of buffalo, giraffes, gazelles along with hartebeests. There are also some rare antelope including the Lesser Kudu, duiker and dik-dik, a tiny African antelope that is notoriously shy. Bird lovers will watch around 400 species of birds including rollers, bee-eaters, the Peters Finfoot, starlings and numerous weavers. Breakfast, Lunch, dinner and overnight at Ikweta Safari Camp.
This being your last day in Meru, you will wake up to a sumptuous breakfast then drive back to Nairobi. Upon arrival you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to board your flight back home. Breakfast at Ikweta Safari Camp and Lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant.
